Our guest speakers were two of the three Red Hook High School sophomores (soon to be juniors) who attended the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards conference at the end of June.  Syr, Katelin and Colin attended the conference.  Colin was on vacation this week and unfortunately could not be with us this morning. Syr and Katelin both said it was a great experience attending RYLA.  Both girls mentioned that they did not get placed in the activity group of their choice which made them feel uneasy and out of their comfort zone.  Katelin wanted to be in the engineering group, but was placed in the skit/comedy group.  Syr wanted to be in the graduation planning group, but was placed in the chorus.  They learned the importance of working together on a team or in a group.  They learned members of the team or group have different personalities and play different roles, but every member is important to the team as a whole.  Both felt it was a growth experience for them.
